Funds to Para-Military Forces for Tackling Terrorism

On July 28, 2009, the Minister of State in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Mullappally Ramachandran, provided data on the funds allocated to the para-military forces for combating terrorism in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament).

The funds allocated and sanctioned to the Para Military Forces (PMF) to provide security and fight terrorism are adequate.

Force-wise funds utilised during each of the three years on 5 provisioning heads of arms and ammunition, machinery & equipment, clothing tentage & stores, motor vehicles and information technology are given below force-wise:

Allocation of funds to PMFs to provide security and fight terrorism is a continuous process. During the current financial year an amount of Rs. 2040 crore have been allocated in the budget estimate for all the 7 PMFs on the 5 provisioning heads.

This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mullappally Ramachandran, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
