Police recovered an IED near the
main entrance of Mantripukhri in Imphal West District. According
to sources, a Police patrolling party found the IED on the road
side, along Imphal-Dimapur highway. Later Bomb Disposal Squad
disposed off the IED.
A KCP-Noyon militant was arrested
near Moreh Forest Gate in Tengupal District. According to authorities,
the arrested militant was working under the ‘finance secretary’
of the group , identified as ‘captain’ Ramesh alias Yangba who
is in Aucheng in Myanmar.
Churachandpur District Police
arrested 37 militants in 2017 and recovered 41 weapons (including
15 small arms), 28 detonators and 9 gelatin sticks. Two individuals
were also detained under the National Security Act.
Imphal West Police arrested 118
militants in 2017. Police also recovered two .32 pistols with
magazines and six live rounds, a, .32 revolver, three .9 mm pistols
with magazines and 16 lie bullet rounds, two Chinese hand grenades
with detonators, two hand grenades with one detonator, one AK-56
rifle with five magazines and 56 AK ammunition, one lethod gun
with 10 shells, 81 gelatin sticks, two TNT cases.
UCM a civil society organization
stated that GoI should confine the frame work agreement with NSCN-IM
to Nagaland. The President of UCM stated that "If the framework
agreement and its outcome is confined only to Nagaland, there
will be no issue and complications’.
He also added that ‘If the framework
agreement or any solution based on it is going to affect the interest
of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, then no solution should
be worked out without consulting the governments of these states
and stakeholders’. UCM president is the spokesperson for the eight-member
delegation of three citizens'' organisations who had met Union
Home Minister Rajnath Singh in December.
